What you need before enabling WhatsApp
Before turning on WhatsApp in Klaviyo, make sure you have the following:
- Admin or Owner access to your Klaviyo account: Only users with these permissions can enable WhatsApp in Klaviyo.
- Your business information and Meta account access: If your company doesn’t have a Meta Business account yet, you can create one by heading to Meta Business tools.
- A sending phone number: You can use an existing business number, get a number from Klaviyo if eligible, purchase one from a provider such as Twilio or Infobip, or request a free number from Meta during setup. Meta-provided numbers are recommended for testing only and have usage limitations.
- A display name for WhatsApp: This is the name customers will see when you message them on WhatsApp.

Scale your mobile strategy with flexible WhatsApp pricing
Klaviyo pricing is built for flexibility across all your mobile channels. You can manage SMS, MMS, RCS, and WhatsApp from one place, with per-message pricing based on the message type and destination. This makes it easy to grow your mobile strategy while keeping costs predictable.
Note: RCS is currently in private beta with a limited number of functionalities. You can request access to this or any other Klaviyo beta via the Beta Landing Page, but acceptance is not guaranteed. Klaviyo Support will assist customers enrolled in the beta but cannot provide updates on applications.
Manage mobile messaging in one plan
WhatsApp messaging spend counts toward your Klaviyo Mobile Messaging plan alongside SMS, MMS, and RCS.
This gives you flexibility to use the channels that work best for each customer while managing your mobile messaging spend in one place.
Understand pricing by message type and destination
WhatsApp message costs depend on the type of message you send and where your recipient is located.
Marketing and transactional messages use pre-approved templates and are billed per delivered template message.
Service messages are replies sent within a customer-initiated 24-hour window. Starting November 2, 2026, the first 1,000 delivered service messages per business phone number each month are free; additional messages are billed at the applicable utility-message rate.
Klaviyo applies the appropriate per-message rate based on the message type and destination.
