Observe the example below to see how they used conditional splits and personalized emails to build a straightforward journey for each user preference.
Build your personalized welcome journey
Creating a personalized welcome journey for your subscribers is simpler than it seems. By repeating a few basic steps, you can craft a tailored experience that meets each user's preferences. Follow the process outlined in the tabs below to build an effective and engaging welcome series for your new subscribers.
Set your foundation
Once a user subscribes to your list, they will enter into your welcome flow. You can create defined paths for each user and their specific preferences using a conditional split.
After the split is in place, you’ll need to choose a single profile property to base your split on.
This could be based on a product category, product type, color scheme, or anything else that you collected at signup to help define your users’ preferences.
Configure your split
After you’ve implemented your split you’ll need to build your messaging paths.
The ‘Yes’ path will be greeted with an email, while the ‘No’ path will be met by another conditional split.
Subscribers who meet the criteria will go down the ‘Yes’ path and receive an email tailored to that profile property.
Those who don't, will follow the ‘No’ path and proceed to the next conditional split.
Build a personalized email
Branching your flow by profile properties is just the beginning.
To fully personalize the welcome series, you also need to craft messages that align with each user's preferred categories.
These messages will branch of the ‘Yes’ path, and require you to use custom tags that reference the profile properties associated with your message,

Continue the journey
Now, build off the ‘No’ path to set up the rest of your journey.
Repeat the previous steps by choosing a new profile property for each split and adding a corresponding email.
Continue adding splits until you have paths for all preferences.
End the journey
For the final ‘No’ branch, create a general welcome email for subscribers who didn't match previous criteria or have no profile properties.
This step will help you connect with users who haven’t set any preferences or those who are still discovering theirs.
