    Evaluate warming success

As we've discussed, account warming is critical to train inbox providers to see your client as a positive sender. So, what is a successful warming period? What benchmarks signal warming success? Measuring warming success consists of looking at deliverability benchmarks from both a trend perspective, as well as a benchmarking perspective (looking at how an account is performing relative to peers).

Determine when an account is fully warmed

The warming process generally takes around 30 days, but it's heavily dependent on the frequency of emails sent from the account. A good way to tell if warming is complete is if you have sent multiple campaigns to a 90-day engaged segment and have consistently achieved good deliverability benchmarks across those campaigns.

To analyze your deliverability, access the following tools:

    • Review your client's deliverability score within Klaviyo's Deliverability Hub to track performance on an account-level.
    • Use the Deliverability tab of each campaign that you send to check deliverability metrics on a per-email basis. This page makes it easy to identify where deliverability issues may be concentrated, as shown below.

    Ask these questions throughout warming

As you increase the audience size during the warming period and near the 30-day mark, you'll want to monitor your client's account for the following:

    • Are open and click rates relatively consistent and within a normal range based on industry averages?
    • Has there been a spike in unsubscribes or bounces?
    • Are bounce rates and unsubscribe rates remaining low?
    • Is the spam complaint rate low?

If the answers to these questions are not concerning, then your client's account should be in good standing. Continue to use an engagement-based sending schedule for all future campaigns since this is an industry best practice, but you can take more liberties with the engagement tiers and frequency of sends.

Again, each client is different and may require a different warming process. Please refer to our guide on choosing the correct warming process and follow the specific guidance regarding the metrics and percentages you want to aim for.
