    Share announcements using forms

Learn how to use forms to make announcements on your website. Plus, you'll learn how to add coupons or a countdown timer to an announcement to further encourage shoppers to purchase.

Communicate with your audience via forms

Forms can be uniquely used to share announcements directly on your website. Share updates with visitors who haven’t subscribed to your marketing lists or remind subscribers about announcements via email, text message, or push notifications. Keep announcement forms simple and focused.

We recommend using a flyout form so site visitors can continue browsing. Additionally, make sure to:

    • Align the message and tone of your form with your announcement.
    • Apply targeting and behavior settings to reach the intended audience.
    • Refrain from using fields or buttons that distract from the message.

In the following examples, we’ll explore how SWAK Cosmetics uses sign-up forms to share announcements on their website.

    Promote initiatives with strong copy

Throughout the year, SWAK shares company announcements with audiences browsing their website. These include:

    • Announcing a new store location.
    • Promoting a new product.
    • Sharing best sellers with first time shoppers.
    • Launching early holiday offers on their website.

They include words and phrases that elicit feelings of uniqueness and urgency to encourage customers to complete the objective of their form:

    • Exclusive
    • Seasonal offering
    • Limited time
    • Limited edition
    • Don’t miss out
    • Going fast

    Add a countdown timer

During the holiday season, SWAK creates an increased sense of urgency by adding a countdown timer to the following announcements:

    • Flash sales
    • Special promotions
    • Holiday offers

SWAK can choose between a fixed and variable date type when adding a countdown timer to a sign-up form.

    • Fixed: counts down to a specific date or time. For example, if they have a VIP sale that begins at midnight on a certain date, or a limited time offer with a set end date.
    • Variable: begins counting down when the form launches, and resets with every new page load. If they set a variable timer to 1 hour, then all viewers will see a countdown timer beginning at 1 hour, regardless of when they visit SWAK’s website.

To add a timer to a sign-up form, SWAK creates a new announcement flyout form. In the form editor, they:

    1. Click on Add blocks.
    2. Drag a Countdown timer block into the form.
    3. Adjust the timer settings as desired.
    4. Click Publish to publish your edits and set the form live.

    Offer targeted discounts

Another way SWAK draws attention to their forms is by adding coupons, which they can promote to specific audiences. For example, they share an exclusive coupon for their VIP customers. In return, they encourage customers to spend more money on their website.

Below are a few example segments that you can target with coupons:

    • 30-day engaged segment
    • Frequent holiday shoppers
    • Recent shoppers
    • Brand ambassadors
    • High-value customers

Pro tip: Use a full-page form as a landing page to create an eye-catching announcement for a final sale, limited-time offer, or exclusive product drop. Displaying this form before visitors access your website ensures the message gets immediate attention. However, do keep in mind that a full-page form, while highly visible, can interrupt the customer’s experience. Make sure the announcement is clear, concise, and provides immediate value. Use compelling visuals and straightforward messaging to convey the purpose quickly, and include an easy way for visitors to dismiss the form if they want to explore your site without engaging with the announcement.
