Identify 4 best practices to enhance your guest relationships and drive more revenue for your restaurant.

    Integrate your tech stack

Before you dive into these best practices, ensure you’ve integrated your platforms so your data is centralized in one easy place: Klaviyo! Integrate your:

    • POS (point-of-sale)
    • Online ordering system
    • Reservation platform
    • Loyalty platform
    • Ecommerce storefront
    • Social media platform

    Take the full course.

    Best practice #1

    Expand your reach

Growing your subscriber list is essential for engaging and retaining your guests. Use your integrations and some key on-premise strategies to increase the number of guests you can reach with Klaviyo channels like email, SMS, and push notifications.

    Social media lead ad

Drive sign-ups with your integrated tech stack
Your integrations can help you power list growth by collecting consent from guests online. The Meta and Google integrations enable you to discover new subscribers across social media through lead ads. If you’ve integrated your ecommerce storefront, you can also collect consent with sign-up forms and quizzes on your site.

    Grow your list on-premise
Add QR codes to onsite signage and take-out menus that bring on-premise guests to your sign-up form or subscribe page. With the Square integration, you can also enable consent at checkout via your POS. Reach out to your POS provider for more information about setting this up.

    Offer effective sign-up incentives
Consider adding exciting perks and incentives for subscribing to your marketing lists. For example, you could format your incentive as a giveaway; when someone subscribes, they’re entered for a chance to win a $250 gift card to your restaurant.

    Best practice #2

    Lean into loyalty programs

Loyalty programs help restaurants build stronger guest relationships, which lead to increased revenue. Encourage newer guests to join your program, and reward those who dine with you often with unbeatable perks.

    Lay the foundation
Integrate your loyalty provider with Klaviyo; for example, Klaviyo has pre-built integrations with Punchh and Thanx. Once you have this data synced into Klaviyo, you can use it to power marketing that reminds loyalty members of their perks and incentives, bringing them back to place another order or make another reservation.

Build strong relationships with your VIPs
Craft compelling campaigns that reward your most loyal guests with special perks and benefits. In addition, set up automated loyalty flows that update guests when they’ve earned a reward or reached a new loyalty tier, to keep them engaged.

Encourage less frequent diners to come back
For guests who don’t come on-premise as often, incentivize them to dine with you again by encouraging them to join your loyalty program. Educate them on the added benefits they could unlock that make signing up a no-brainer.

    Best practice #4

    Create location-specific experiences

Drive foot traffic on-premise with location-based strategies that will have your guests returning back for their next meal in no time.

    Create location-based segments
Create segments of guests based on their location or proximity to a location. This allows you to identify guest trends for each of your restaurants, and send them more personalized messaging that encourages them to make another reservation.

Message about your events and promotions
Consider setting up a location-based welcome series that’s triggered when someone meets the criteria for one of your location-based segments. In this flow, welcome them with an incentive to use on-premise. Send campaigns to location-based segments about happy hours, trivia nights, live music events, and on-premise exclusive deals.

    Identify on-premise trends with analytics
When you dive into the attributed conversions for all of your location-based messages, you get a better sense of what’s driving the needle for guests near each of your restaurants. Identify where your foot-traffic is strong, and incentivize more activity in your quieter locations.
